Accessorizing your outfits can sometimes be tricky. With so many available accessories it is easy to get lost in the sea of colors, shapes, and motifs. Nevertheless, accessories are there to compliment your outfit and add finishing touches to your look. Most of all, accessories are there to add new and vibrant energy to your wardrobe and last season's clothes.
There are a few basic categories of accessories including footwear, belts, handbags, jewelry, hair accessories, and winter accessories (scarfs, hats, gloves - all of those yummy things that keep you warm!). All of these can be combined and used multiple times and worn between different styles.
1.Think Outside the Box
When it comes to accessories, they don't need to match. Matching accessories can sometimes come across as vintage and conservative and in today’s world, there aren’t many opportunities for such events. If you are new to color schemes and feel uncomfortable wearing too many bright colors, maybe start adding a few bright accessories to a neutral-colored outfit.
2.Patterns and Colors
If your outfit is screaming with bright colors, and / or patterns, it can be intimidating adding accessories. A great way to avoid too much noise is by adding a classic hat, belt, or vibrant shoes that can take your outfit to the next level.
3.Transform - Don’t Add
The best way to use accessories is to think about how they can transform your outfit. For example, a simple, one-colored dress can be perfect for work if you add a blazer to it and a scarf. You will look professional and stylish. But if you ditch the blazer, add some colorful rings, or a neckless, your outfit will transform into a perfect drinks-after-work evening outfit.
Sometimes opening your jewelry box can feel overwhelming - there are too many options and you simply can't decide. That is why it is always good to have a signature accessory, one that makes you feel great and can be worn with different outfits. Then you can layer on top of that, but always strike for a good balance and have one dominant piece.
It's All About Balance
Accessorizing is all about balance. Sometimes less can be more if your outfit is quite striking, or your accessories can level up your plain, one-colored dress. Keeping a good balance between your outfit and accessories is the best way to compliment one another.
